ANAPBA
Summits
[continued]
The
1999
Summit
was held in Utah, and for the first time ever gathered together
representatives from all the North American Pipe Band Associations.
One of the really exciting initiatives to come from the 1999 summit was
the standardization of playing and music requirements for bands across
North America.
The 2000
Summit was held in Chicago,
hosted by the Midwest Pipe Band Association. Great progress was made on
music issues, including confirmation that all 10 associations had adopted
the standard playing requirements for bands. Also, a set of solo playing
requirements was worked out, and an Accord was signed with the Australian
Pipe Band Association.
The 2002
Summit was held in Toronto, hosted
by the Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario.
The summit worked on the future direction of the Alliance, including
discussions about the kinds of things the Alliance
should do. Progress on the musical front came in the establishment of
criteria for judges and judging, and the establishment of Music Boards in
each of the Associations.
The 2003
Summit was held in Atlanta,
hosted by the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association. The summit was
the first event to include all the Music Board chairs from across North America,
as well as the Presidents of each member association.
The 2004 Summit
was held
in Vancouver, BC January 9-11,
2004 and was hosted by the BC Pipers Association.
The
2005
ANAPBA Summit
was hosted by the Prairie Pipe Band Association of Manitoba on January
5-7, in
Winnipeg Canada.
The 2006 ANAPBA Summit
was hosted by the Southern U.S.
Pipe Band
Association
on January 27-29, in Orlando, Florida.
The
2007
ANAPBA Summit was
hosted
by the Western U.S. Pipe Band Association on January 26-28,
in Las Vegas, Nevada.
