SUMMARY OF CHANGES
to the SUSPBA Rules & Requirements

From proposals made at the ANAPBA Summit 2006

·             Recommendation: Given 2 piping, 1 drumming, 1 ensemble judge, the ranking system shall be used.  And in the event of a tie, the ensemble place shall take preference regardless of number of bands.

The SUSPBA Rules & Requirements would be revised as listed below:

Section 2

H.

2. Determining Band Score, Placing and Champion Supreme:

a. Band scoring will be an unweighted ranking with equal weight between Piping, Piping,

Ensemble and Drumming judges. Simply add up the unweighted ranks and low score wins.

Piping # 2 25 %    Drumming 25 %

b. If there are four or fewer bands in the contest, use a point system option where judges use defined point spreads.

Example: A 1-point difference for a close contest, a two-point difference for a significant distinction, and a three-point difference for a substantial distinction between bands.

3. Determining Winning Band

a. The band with the highest combined score will be declared the winner of the competition.

b. In the event of a tie, the following scores shall decide the winner:

1. Ensemble ranking shall determine the winner.

2. Combined piping

3. Drumming

4. If the tie is still unresolved, winner will be determined by a special meeting of the

judges.

c. b. Bands will receive points as follows: The following scale shall be used to assign points to the placing position of each band
